Bare Escentuals Matte Foundation Review

by Laura

Bare Escentuals looks more natural than liquid foundation, light doesn't feel like I am wearing makeup, I wore it snorkeling in Hawaii and my makeup stayed put. :) Also doesn't increase breakouts, good coverage for acne, but I still need concealer so I use Estee Lauder double wear oil free foundation to cover spots as a concealer but not on whole face.

On face I use Bare Escentuals foundation I love this. My review is for people with cystic acne prone skin. This foundation is the best I have tried for my skin type . Does not exacerbate flare ups but Original formula does so don't use that one.

Also, I love the color of the medium beige I am Latina with light to medium skin, my skin is a bit on the pink side I burn instead of tan although I am not very fair, other makeup brands make their mediums too orange and their lights to light. This is the only brand that makes my shade just the right amount of light yellow to neutralize my pink without looking orange.

Last month I switched to the Matte Formula which contains Lauryl Lysine which I was skeptical at first since is derived from coconut oil, but is not an oil) Result: My cysts have completely disapeared yay!

But I must warn Matte Formula is dry, but I rather have dry skin than cysts my skin is not flaky though. Also Lauryl Lysine is naturally antibacterial which is a plus. And other mineral makeup brands don't properly disclose their ingredients so I did not want to risk trying them.

8 years ago I stopped using liquid makeup and switched to the Bare Escentuals Original foundation I loved it because it cleared up my regualar acne, but after a few month I started getting cysts. It never clicked to my makeup change due to breakouts clearing up initially.

I read that Bismuth Oxychloride is linked to cystic acne recently so I switched formulas and cysts are gone. Other mineral makeup brands use wax and talc and bismuth as well or they don't properly disclose their ingredients.
