Earthnicity Mineral Makeup Review
by Laura Stevens
(Birmingham, United Kingdom)
I've been experimenting with mineral makeup because I heard so many good things about it. I've never been able to wear standard foundation without breaking out, but I didn't like going bare-faced either as my skin is not in the best condition because of my acne.
My favourite brand so far is Earthnicity Minerals. The first mineral foundation I tried was from Bare Escentuals - you couldn't miss it - there's a BE counter in every department store! It looked good initially but it made my skin itch and I wasn't keen on the shiny finish (I found out that the cause of both was the bismuth oxychloride they used).
I decided to do more research and buy online. I identified several companies which made foundations without bismuth and ordered samples from them (which is a great idea by the way - it seems that only mineral makeup companies provide free or cheap samples!).
Of the companies which I bought samples from, Earthnicity gave me the best colour match for my fair complexion and also the best coverage compared to the other brands. Best of all, my skin didn't break out. I went ahead and bought a full jar of foundation. The price is slightly higher than most but it's well worth it and the jar lasts a good while.
EDITOR'S NOTES:
Thank you Laura for letting us know about Earthnicity Mineral Makeup. I visited this U.K. website which offers a variety of mineral cosmetics for all skin colors. The ingredients are great and do not include any of the ingredients like bismuth oxychloride or talc that often cause skin reactions.
I like that they offer several options to try their products so you can easily find the colors that will work for you. There are different sample packs where you can try just one color at a time, order a sample pack in a color range or a starter pack which gives you a way to sample the foundation, finishing powder, concealer and includes a kabuki brush for application.
After you know which colors work best for you you can purchase full sized products individually or request a complete makeup kit in your color range of full sized products.
Heads up to vegans. While their products do not contain any animal ingredients according to their FAQ's some of their makeup brushes may contain animal hair.
Below are the ingredients (from their website) for their mineral foundation:
