Live a more natural lifestyle with help from my favorite natural living books. If you are as fascinated as I am about the potential for living well and living healthy without harming the earth you may want to learn more.
Early on I connected the health of my family, myself and my pets to products we were using, food we were eating and how we were living. It was easy to see that if I chose a more natural approach in everyday living it was better for us and the environment.
Below you will find reviews to natural living books that have informed, inspired or motivated me to make changes. Perhaps some of them will do the same for you.

Just A Few Book Reviews
Natural Living Books for Skin Care
Not Just A Pretty Face: The Ugly Side Of The Beauty Industry
by Stacy Malkan

Being a supporter of The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, I was interested to read this book. Here I discovered just how this organization came about and how they are fighting so hard
to convince the cosmetic industry to clean up it's act. It clearly explains why we have so many toxins in our products, what is being done and what should be done in the future to create safer products. I found it to be very interesting and informative with many personal stories that will have you thinking more about the ingredients in products
we use everyday of our lives and wondering about companies that many of us have believed in for years.

The Green Beauty Guide
by Julie Gabriel

From the very beginning and all throughout our lives we use hundreds of products on our skin and hair. Are the ingredients in these products safe? This is a question we all should be asking. If we continue to use some of the products commonly found in our grocery, drug or department stores we are exposing
ourselves to a large variety of toxins which no one really knows what effects they have on our bodies.
This book is an excellent resource to help us find our way through the often confusing product lables to find more natural and afffordable skin and beauty care. It offers thorough explanations of ingredients both good and bad along with plenty of
solutions. The author also includes many recipes to make some of our own beauty care products. This is a guide you will refer to all the time.

Natural Living Books For The Green Consumer
Cradle to Cradle
by William McDonough and Michael Braungart

Right now many products are created with little thought to what happens to them when their useful life is over and if they can't or aren't being recycled they end up in the trash but these writers would like product development to include a plan for the product
when it's no longer useful.
It is a big idea and probably not one that many companies would be willing to implement. After all it would make them be more responsible with the design and development of their products. What a thought. Companies couldn't create products without careful consideration to the materials or without a plan as to what happens to them
when we can't use them any more. Sounds like better, safer and longer lasting products to me.
From the first chapter which starts us off thinking about items in our homes and our current method of product development and then questions how things are made and how they could be made in ways
that are healthier both for us and the planet. I want to say I really enjoyed this book but that sounds a little weird since it was a serious subject but it was fascinating and certainly made me think.

Natural Living Books for Living With Values
The Better World Handbook
by Ellis Jones, Ross Haenfler and Brett Johnson

What's important to you? Living more naturally and simply? Environmental responsibility? Ethical treatment for people and animals?
These writers provide simple action steps we can take to make what is important to us a part of our everyday life. They have us look at all areas of our life from products we use to our family and community life and see if we can make choices that are more in line with our values.
Sometimes it feels that there is so much that needs changing but the best thing we can do is just start with just one simple step. This book provides plenty of ideas to get us started. It's a great resource for those who want to make a difference or to create more meaning in their lives.
