Joelle Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Review

After deciding to make the switch to mineral makeup, it was important to me to find a brand that was affordable without sacrificing quality. I've never used mineral makeup in the past, so this was my first experience with it.

Once I got used to the application process, I liked Joelle's mineral makeup even better than my old liquid foundation. I found it had better coverage than the liquid foundation I was using, so I liked the results. It was as easy as any other mineral makeup to use, just have to apply in layers (I like doing veil, foundation, veil, then bronzer). And you need to tap the powder into the cap, swirl, tap off excess, then apply, just like most other brands.

I'm 28, and have oily/acne prone skin, so dryness wasn't a problem, and it seemed to keep shine at bay for most of the day.

The price was right, only $10 for a basic-sized foundation. The only problem with the company I have is some of their products are natural (or appear to be) and some aren't. They claimed a mascara they were selling was natural, but after recieving it and checking the ingredients, 10 of the 12 ingredients were irritating to the eyes!

So, my confidence in the company is compromised. I like the price, but I think I'd be willing to pay a little more to go with a company that is truly all-natural and honest.

I visited Joelle Cosmetics site and found a list of ingredients that they use for their mineral makeup, blush and eyeshadow. It was not on the individual products page but on an information page that explains more about their products:

Our ingredients include: mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides

The company appears to take great care in their choice of natural ingredients for their mineral makeup so even though they do not list ingredients for their other products I think it would be easy to assume that all their products are natural especially when it says natural mascara.

As Heather can tell you it's not always true. It always bugs me when there isn't an ingredient list for each product. It's the only way to be sure.

1/3/2012: Received my Vitamin C Serum today and LOVE the feel of it on my face and neck; moisturing but not greasy. I cannot give any testimonial at this point but I was impressed enough to order samples of Joelle's liquid mineral makeup. I'll come back and post when I've had more time to evaluate both more thoroughly.

Poor Business Practices

I can't speak to how the company worked in the past, however I ordered mascara and eye makeup in early September and I never received my order. After e-mailing several times with no response, I finally sent a letter via snail mail saying I would like my money back. I then received an e-mail with a refund confirmation (but no apology or anything else to back that up.) Then I noticed that my credit card had never actual been reimbursed! I am still waiting to get the money back--it was a small order so I am not as concerned about the refund as much as I about the principle of the matter. There is no excuse for lack of communication in the current technology-filled world we live in. Small business or big business, customers are important and I may have become a very loyal customer had anything gone correctly here! I would not suggest ordering from this website/small business.

I just ordered from Joelle's and it did say that you could get 20% off your first order by entering FIRST20%OFF at checkout ... but I did not see where I could actually do that... so it's a bit disappointing.

LOL...have anyone seen Joelles feedback? Over 50,000 positives on ebay alone...wow...she surpassed what i ever imagined i could ever be as a seller. Being a FORMER fellow ebay seller I can tell you this. People (customers) will go out of their way to prove they are right. A simple bad review of someones product, customer service or business can ruin someones life! Do bad experiences happen?, sure they do. Do people take things in emails out of context?, certainly. Do mistkes happen?, absolutely! We all just can not be perfect all the time, no matter how hard we try. We can not please everyone everytime..impossible. We can certainly try, but doubtful it will always happen. Ebay buyers want everything for nothing. Yell, scream, demand, threaten negative feedbacks, leave negatives knowing sellers will do whatever it takes to get them removed. It is sad how sellers are treated by buyers. Get a grip people, be real...dont seek out a site to trash someones rep and business. See it for what it is. Give sellers a chance to make it right, they usually do.. before they all give up like i did. I thought i was going to go insane dealing with it myself. Sometimes it is just not worth it dealing with all the crap customers dish out. Ebay sellers quit everyday because of this. SAD!

I doubt they resell anything used. Have you seen their return policy? No returns on opened used merchandise. The fact that it is against the law to sell used makeup. I doubt anyone would take that chance with their business.

i thought i would add my opinion to this forum. i found jeoelle on ebay 5 years ago and have never looked back. the prices are out of this world reasonable!! can you say tough economy? much more natural and best of all handmade! some people scoff at handmade items, but not me. i am all for the little business women. i have only ever encountered 1 issue with my order and that was a postal issue(they just are not careful enough with packages) and kerry fixed it immediately. i didnt get an email response very quickly, like a day, but my replacement was already in the mail. from reading up on her, she is a mom of 4, works with only 1 assitant (i think?) and has had some pretty rough health issues. i think she tries very very hard to please everyone she sells to, just needs more help maybe? it must be hard to compete with the fancier pricier companies, but i think that is why her stuff is so much more reasonable. less overhead. i will keep my money in my pockets and continue to buy from joelle. not give to corporations that are just overpriced and really, their customer service is far worse, i know..i am a former user. do a search for b.e. or sheer covers complaints. omg...to long to even mention.

horrible makeup/ unsealed-unsanitary

I can agree with the lady that said the product was unsealed. I received a package full of loose makeup mixed up all over the container. I sent an email to the owner who rudely responded that I need to take pictures (as if I was lying). Only one thing in my package of over 50 dollars had a seal. The owner then accused me of accusing her (umm proof is literally in the package). I can send pictures to whoever wants to see them before buying. I'm wondering if the product gets reused? Why is it unsealed. I will pursue this further and let others know. I am in the midst of dealing with her rude replies.

Well, first of all I have never heard of so many women calling the police over makeup before as in the posts below. I sell on Ebay and have had an irrational customer like the one below and it's no fun. I love Joelle make up. I stopped using it because of some communication issues - she did not respond to a shade complaint. Kerry needs to tighten up the communication, it's true. But the prices are more than fair and the makeup I got made my skin look and feel fantastic. I am going to order again. It's worth it.

Joelle cosmetics/My Mineral Glitters — If I have learned anything, it is that a good quality makeup coming from a good quality company will guarantee their product & stand behind it 100%. The excuse of "not accepting returns due to hygeinic purposes" does not make sense - she can throw it away and write it off. Especially since if it was a truely high quality makeup she would have very few returns. This should have been a warning sign for me, but I, of course, ignored it.

I was so excited when I found this product line since it is supposed to be gluten free. She had a wide variety and great prices, and free shipping, too! So I ordered 2 types of starter kits (Absolutely Everything and Blushes) and some odds and ends, like extra brushes, gluten free hairspray (smells like deodorant tampons, YUK!), styling gel, primer, lip gloss, etc., and spent over $100.

I spent time researching and finally decided on my foundation and blush colors. When I received my package, it was missing items - brushes that were supposed to part of the kit and a separate $10 brush I purchased. There was not a note saying they were backordered. I have requested the missing items and received the free brush kit but not the $10 brush. Also, several of the pots were not sealed, but several of them were. I wondered if they had changed their packaging so I decided to give the benefit of the doubt on that.

Anyway, this makeup does not cover any of the redness on my face. It just looks like caked on makeup and I still have uneven skin tone & redness. I tried the concealer, which made me look like I was nauseated (it is green) and I still had red blotches...until it all turned yellow! Everything! After a couple of hours on my skin I look like I have a liver disease. And the eyeshadow cakes into a greasy line in the creases on your eyelids. Nasty. AND I had the added pleasure of breaking out all over my face. I loved the lip balm (3.00) but am afraid to use it because it contains Vitamin E - which may or may not be gluten free. At this point I am not sure I trust that it is. I am invested $100 in makeup I can't use.

I have e-mailed with questions but get no response. This lady does not care if you are satisfied or not, or even if you got all your stuff. She got her money and she is done with you.

Read the warning sign, ladies. If she cannot stand behind her product with a satisfaction guarantee do not bother with this makeup!

i happened to stumble upon this forum and decided to give my 2 cents. i myself did some business with this LINDA THOMAS from PADDYCAKES NATURAL SKIN CARE below and NEVER again. she ordered some wholesale items from me and a day later starting stalking me too!! no one can get her products out the door fast enough to please her. if it is not mailed that day, she begins hounding and calling and emailing and stalking you. she is very rude, yelling on the phone, and threatening emails. she vowed to ruin my good name all over the web as well. i about called my local police because i thought this woman was going to fly here and do something serious. i cancelled her order immediately and refunded her. poor kerry, what a mess she must have put her through. STAY AWAY FROM PADDYCAKES! if you get an order from her, cancel cancel cancel!! and if possible. block her!

I love Joelle's cosmetics and her products are great and inexpensive. I do wish her communication was better when she sends packages, but she does send them right away and will correct any issues with orders. I found her on ebay, but have since started purchasing at her site. I have referred at least three people who love her make-up and use it. I would recommend her products.

THE SITE SAYS WHOLESALE EMU OIL ORDERS TAKE AT LEAST 10 DAYS TO SHIP. 2 DAYS AFTER SHE PAID, SHE BEGAN DEMANDING WE SEND HER OIL IMMEDIATELY. After makeing a purchase online site from Joelle Cosmetics, I tried Numerous times to contact her by phone and email to no avail! I also paid for Priority shipping. I was afraid I'd been duped ad lost my $100.00, so I did a little reseach and investigation on my own and called her cell phone #. She denied being Kerry Plouse,and said she didn't know what I was talking about! I know for a fact I had the right # and also home # of her and husband Stephen Plouse.. I don't reccommend doing any business with her and I'm contacting the Sayre, PA police Department and filing fraud charges against her!

I just received my first order of Joelle mineral makeup. I had a question about the colors, so I left a comment in the contact box when I didn't receive any word back I called and called. Never got a response back from anyone. I did, however receive my order and do like the gluten free make up, but I give this product a 4 star because of no response which showed me they don't care much about the customer.

I love the mineral makeup my skin looks so good and fresh. I used bare minerals for 4 years and loved it very much but, I wanted to see how this one would work too, so I bought it , loved it better price and quantity is better. Highly recommended.

I just found Joelle and love it. The foundation is slightly chalkier and shows a bit more than my Bare Minerals, but I really like the eye-shadows (they are messy though!) and am in love with the brown liner. One of the blushes I ordered turned black as soon as I applied it -- it looked pink in the container so I'm not sure what happened there -- might have been filled with the wrong mix? The other blush is nice, if a bit bright. A tiny touch goes a long way. Overall, I'm happy with my order.

i had been on a long search for makeup that was gluten free. since 3 of my family members are celiacs, it was very important for me to make a big change in about everything we use on our skin in our household. i found joelle cosmetics gluten free site, and boy am i glad i did. they have about everything. i have mature skin so the liquid foundation works best for me and my twin teen daughters use the powders. we now buy all our body washes, shampoos, and cosmetics here. the lipstick pots are to die for. these are the best prices i have found and so far the shipping is always free. it seems to me that joelle really wants to provide us celiacs with truly affordable beauty. i saw something on the site about her also being gluten intolerant which makes me more confident that she really cares and isnt just trying to sell products.

i have to wonder if there was some sort of mistake in the product you received. i have been buying off joelle for 5 years now and i get at least 2 mascaras a year. (i like to switch often for sanitary purposes) i have never received a mascara that was not all natural and i know because all the ingredients are listed right on the tube. i get the black and the brown. i see now she is revamping her website to include only gluten free items on her site. some of the usual skincare items are gone and when i emailed kerry about it, she said she was going completely gluten free so some of the skincare was no longer available for now until she can reformulate some items. i think you should contact her about the mascara and see if there was in fact a mixup and see if she can replace that mascara for you. i am certain she will and you will will be very happy her her response and her cusotmer service. she has never failed me and i have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars with her.
