Mineral Makeup Reviews - Various Different Products

by Obsessive Fixations
(Los Angeles, CA )

I've ordered sample foundations and eyeshadows from a dozen or so companies. I think Alima and Earth's Beauty had the worst eyeshadows. They had little pigment, dusted off very easily and didn't blend well.

So far I think Aromaleigh and Everyday Minerals have the best pigmented, long-wearing eyeshadows.

Lauress' foundation went on very heavily and looked chalky on my skin. It also comes in excessive packaging. Is it really necessary to hermetically seal sample containers with cardboard and plastic just to mail them?

Editor's note:

Thank you Obsessive Fixations for taking the time to add your reviews of these products.

Many mineral makeups are based on very few, pure ingredients. LaurEss is no different. Below is an ingredient list from one of their foundations:

Ingredients:
Zinc Oxide
Mica
Titanium Dioxide
Iron Oxides
Ultramarines
Lauroyl Lysine

This is the first mineral makeup that I have seen use Lauroyl Lysine. It is an amino acid derivative and is used in products to improve the quality of the application. It is not in any of the makeup I have tried so I wonder how it might change application.

Excessive packaging is a waste.

Respectfully disagree.

I am a LaurEss user, and have to say the packaging is not wasteful at all. I have had so many other companies send me jars of samples that opened and leaked all over leaving me with a total mess. LaurEss doesn't use any extra tissue paper or packing peanuts and I can easily recycle the cardboard they sent the products on. If you find the foundation cakey it is probably because you are using too much. I also have to say I love Alima's eye colors. This leads me to wonder if this reviewer is possibly using the wrong methods of application.

This one is pretty natural
by: Angela

Actually these are all natural ingredients in the list. The only one that can be questioned is the Ultramarines which are may contain dyes, the rest are just minerals.
Ingredients:
Zinc Oxide
Mica
Titanium Dioxide
Iron Oxides
Ultramarines
