New Aubrey Organics Silken Earth Mineral Makeup Review

by Janice Caceres
(New Hartford, NY, USA)

I've been a fan of mineral makeup for years, beginning with Bare Escentuals (which I discarded due to the Bismusth O.) to Larinim (which I loved). However, even after using products w/o the bismuth, my skin (I'm 53) would look "oily" at the end of the day. Enter Aubrey Organics NEW line of base and blush--it is wonderful!

Based in silk, the powder is easy to apply, sheer, and never feels "oily"--plus, I never feel "made-up". I used their old formulation and liked it, but this is really wonderful. It is still hard to find--not up on their website yet--but I was assured it would be up soon.

I was able to order it through an online health store. It comes in 5 shades, which can be mixed and matched, and the blusher comes in several shades also. There is, in addition, a new body shimmer (which I probably won't try because I just don't feel like shimmery stuff does anything for me). I do still use Larenim mineral eyshadow, which is wonderful. However, I hope Aubrey comes out with their own version.

The ingredients in the base are:
Silk Powder, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, tapioca starch*, lauroyl lysine, cinnamomum zeylanicum bark powder*, aloe barbadensis leaf*, oryza sativa (rice) starch, tocopherol, iron oxides, silica 21 gram jar - $23.95. The starred ingredients are organic.

The Silken Blush ingredients are:
Silk Powder, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, tapioca starch*, lauroyl lysine, mica, iron oxides. May contain: Beta vulgaris (beet) powder, carmine, raphanus sativus (radish) powder, titanium dioxide, silica, and it comes in 3 gram jar for $11.95.

I feel this is especially good for those sensitive to Mica (as I found out I was, and it is the main ingredient in most mineral makeups, including Larenim--I have to be very careful not to apply too much). The mica in the blush, odd to say, does not bother me--perhaps there is a smaller amount.
