Unbleached cotton, boring, no style granny panties maybe? Well, you would have been right a while back but not anymore. Now, we are talking thongs, colors and even sexy lingerie.

I have been less than enthused about our choices for organic underwear in the past but I'm pleasantly surprised by the stylish choices we have available today. Many fabrics like organic cotton, bamboo and hemp are so soft and comfortable they are perfect for underwear. And since nothing is closer to us than our underwear, isn't it better to have soft, natural organic fabric next to our skin?

What better way to begin to add organic clothing to your wardrobe than by starting with organic underwear. Our purchases can and do make a difference even the small ones. Every time we purchase organically we keep more harmful chemicals out of our environment.

Where To Shop

Keep in mind as you are shopping for organic underwear or really any organic clothing for that matter that it is important to look for those that not only contain organically grown fibers but also are dyed and processed in ways that are the most gentle to the environment. The chemical processes used on cotton to bleach, dye or finish are often very harmful.

Ecoland Organic Underwear

Very soft 100% organic cotton underwear for the whole family. I found a nice selection of Ecoland items including bras, panties, camis, baby and kids and men's tees at Amazon. Available in natural or pure white. Good for everyday wear. They are made in a sweatshop free environment and they use recycled packaging. Reviews on this brand were mostly positive but some women found the sizing ran small.

Blue Canoe

Their lingerie comes in three nice selections of sheer underwear and bras which is organic cotton and Lycra blends, pure organic ribbed cotton undies and Blue Canoe Shape, a line of bras and bra tops designed for comfort. And even organic thongs.

Cottonfield USA

Organically grown cotton most of which is grown and manufactured right here in the United States. Nice styles. A great site for those sensitive to chemicals many items also are latex free.

Couture Cottons

Cute organic cotton/bamboo panties with little extras like lace and a fun little peekaboo hole near the waistband on the back. Light pink is shown here but also red and black available.

Faeries Dance

Big selection of panties, bras and pretty nightwear in a range of prices. You'll find thongs to boy shorts and sports bras to lacy camis. Available in organic cotton some bamboo blends also available and if you know anything about bamboo you know how soft it is.

Lotus Organics

Another company that offers underwear from many different companies. They are careful in selecting manufacturers that meet their strict organic and ethical criteria and offer a complete guarantee on their products. Nice selection with styles for about anyone.

Gaiam

Some very nice bras and panties made from organic cotton. I have always been very happy with the quality of their products and the customer service at Gaiam. Make sure you check out the Brassage. A bra made with organic cotton that is designed to help keep our lymph system healthy with massage nodes built in to the bra.

Enamore

The Brits are way ahead of us when it comes to ethical and environmentally friendly clothing. This site carries a fun collection of French boudoir designs made from organic silk, hemp and soya jersey. You won't be thinking frumpy organics any more.

While I would love to order from more British sites I don't because of the shipping costs and I don't feel like it is environmentally friendly to ship something I can find here. There is a U.S. company that carries a few items from this line, check out "shops in your area" on the Enamore site. To me this makes more sense than shipping one small order all that way.
