Grapefruit Scrub
by Jenny
(Western PA)
I mix a quarter cup of sugar with the juice of half a grapefruit. I usually use large pink or red grapefruit since that is what I have on hand for eating. It makes a sort of thick and crunchy paste. If the grapefruit is very juicy, I drain away some of the juice.
I have very dry skin, so I don't leave this on my face for very long -- I just massage it in and then rinse with water to remove the mixture and any dead skin. It makes enough to use two or three times, and I just store it in the fridge (it gets grainy there, but works fine). It is especially good for exfoliating the neck. The scent is very refreshing.
Editor's Note:
Citrus fruits act like an astringent so if you have dry skin do as Jenny suggested and don't leave this mixture on your face too long. Be careful if you have any broken areas on your skin this might sting. The sugar in this recipe makes a great, gentle exfoliant.
