Very Sweet Homemade Skin Exfoliant

by Daniela
(Mississauga)

I use brown sugar and maple syrup. Three tsp of brown sugar and then add enough maple syrup to be able to incorporate all the sugar. It is easy to apply and leaves my skin smooth. (And it is yummy!)

Simple Yet Effective Skin Exfoliant

by kenya
(stockton ca usa)

Plain and simply, my favorite skin exfoliant is sugar. I take two cups of sugar and add water until it makes a paste. I pour a small amount in my hands and rub it all over my body. The roughness of the sugar scrubs away the dead skin, and since my skin is sensitive and itches all the time, this is a form of relief. Just make sure you rinse thoroughly or you'll have every honey bee following you around!

I think that anyone can use this because I have stated before I have extremely sensitive skin. I even tried it on my three year old, and the whole time, he didn't move or say a word, which doesn't happen often.

Editor's note:

Simple, easy and effective plus if you are in the mood and want to experiment you can try any number of additions. Try replacing the water with oil such as olive or almond for something more moisturizing or try adding essential oils for their aromatherapy or skin benefits.

I have found when working with sugar to add liquids a little at a time to get the right mixture. You can always add more sugar if need be if mixture gets too thin.

Sweet Sugar Scrub for face/body/lips

by Michelle Cowles
(Scottsdale, AZ)

1 tablespoon raw sugar
5-10 drops olive oil
5-10 drops honey
5-10 drops hot water

Gradually add liquid ingredients to sugar with fingers in a bowl until desired consistency is achieved. Use hands to apply to face and scrub gently around face and lips. Works great for elbows, knees and other dry areas also. If the scrub is too coarse for your face, try using regular granulated sugar.

Sugary Olive Oil Exfoliant

This recipe is made out of olive oil and sugar, that's all and the results are great! The sugar scrubs off the dirt and makeup or what ever is on your face, while the olive oil makes your skin really soft! There is no horrible smell so you can use it before you go any where and not just to bed! If you don't believe me, feel your skin before using it and then feel it after.

P.S.
When you wipe the water from your face pat it, don't rub it.

Almond Oil Sugar Scrub

by Scott
(Delaware, OH, USA)

This recipe is one that I made up myself. I wanted a sugar scrub that I could use year-around for my feet, as they get really dry and rough on the heels and balls.

I take 1 cup of Sugar In The Raw brand sugar, because it is unrefined and has large grains, and mix it with sweet almond oil (any brand will do). The amount of sweet almond oil is really your preference. If you like a thick scrub that will stay on your foot by itself or if you prefer a more liquid version (I personally do) that you can move around easily, just add a little bit of almond oil at a time and stir until you get the consistency you desire.

Once it is mixed up, it will store very well for quite a while. The batch I made up several months ago is still good, and I just store it under my bathroom sink in a plastic bowl with a lid. I personally just use the scrub on my feet and I use it like a soap with a washcloth to exfoliate my heels and balls of my feet. It works great and smells nice and mellow.

Lemon and Brown Sugar Exfoliant

by Roxy
(Sydney)

Place 2 tablespoons of brown sugar in a plate and pop into 1/2 lemon and rub slowly and gentle around your face and your hands, for 1 minute then rinse with cold water it does remove dead skin and you can do the same in your feet once a week, it will leave soft and radiant your skin as new try it, its like magick !!

EDITOR'S NOTES:

This simple recipe looked good and I wanted to make sure I got it right and used the half lemon and not just the juice so I contacted Roxy and had her clarify this recipe for me. She was nice enough to respond and include another homemade skin care recipe.

Thanks Roxy!!

Here was her response:

Yes, darling you rub the 1/2 lemon into the sugar and then using the same lemon rub gently in your skin squeezing slowly to obtain the lemon juice while rubbing, its is very simple.

Another simple recipe for dry and rough feet use 1/2 cup of thickened cream and place into a bucket where it could fit your feet and add up 2 full spoons of honey and warm water and stir it. Put your feet into the bucket for 20 minutes, do not rinse just dry it and massage your feet with some extra virgin oil do it at night for best results. Your feet will look and feel so young and beautiful again.

I hope you try and enjoy it, cheers Roxannne

Skin Exfoliant For Oily Skin

1. Ingredients

1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3-4 drops of your favorite essential oil

2. Mixing all of the ingredients in a small bowl.

3. The mixture makes about 3/4 cup of exfoliant.

4. Store in a sealed, air-tight container at room temperature.

5. Exfoliant is great for any skin, but best for oily skin.

6. For best results, rub the exfoliant on the skin in a circular pattern but rinse off and do not leave it on the skin.

7. Using this exfoliant weekly has helped keep my skin bright, smooth, and soft. Before using it, my oily skin had a lot of small pimples that could be felt but not seen. Since using the exfoliant once a week, my skin has become much softer and the pimples have decreased greatly.
