The Body Shop Concealer Pencil (Crayon Correcteur)

Not all concealers are created equal and different types serve various needs. Some may be better suited for hiding under-eye circles, others for balancing out skin discolorations. With a broad range of available shades, one should consider factors such as time of year (more tan in summer) and function (canceling out redness or blueness).

There is also a spectrum of formulations from powders to creams to liquids suited to personal preference and need. The trick is to match the correct product to its purpose.

I recommend The Body Shop Concealer Pencil for offsetting small areas of discoloration due to sun exposure, mild scarring or blemishes. It has a dryer consistency than a cream yet it is not dry in application. It goes on easily and can be smudged or smoothed as needed. Not only is the coverage good but it is long-lasting, even over cream foundation/blush. I use Color 01 which is lighter and more yellow than my complexion but ideal for offsetting darkness, shadows or redness.

Although this product can be used for under-eye circles it wouldn't be my first choice due to the need for a very creamy, super-blendable product in that area. I find that the pencil can drag a little under the eyes since the skin is so delicate there. I also wouldn't use the Concealer Pencil for illumination/highlighting, e.g., at the inner corners of the eye. It is not reflective enough for that. Nonetheless its portability and neatness factor make it ideal for tossing in a purse for quick touch-ups.
