Sanctum Australia Organic Skin Care
by Janice Cáceres
I’m on a constant watch for products that do not irritate my sensitive skin. Because constant, long-term use causes sensitivity in my case, I was forced to abandon my beloved black soap/shea butter/avocado oil routine and find something different. Criteria included the lack of any of the common preservatives, including pheoxyethanol and parabens, ingredients such as hydantoin, and so on and so forth. I prefer using products with high standards concerning the environment and the use of organic materials, and I would rather go with a smaller company than a large corporate conglomerate. I was very happy, therefore, to find Sanctum products available through my vitamin retailer (I have used Lucky Vitamin since their inception as an online retailer). It takes a lot of research to find products that are pure—“natural” retailers certainly carry many, many products that are not. Sanctum seemed to be a safe choice. I ordered the Moisture Concentrate, the Skin Renewal Treatment, the Eye Energizing Gel, and the Vitamin C Repair Cream initially, and I have been very pleased with the tightening and toning results. When I finished the Eye Gel, the Skin Renewal Treatment, and the Repair Cream, I ordered the Eye Firming Balm, the Overnight Conditioning Cream, and the Vitamin C Repair Serum. I have been pleased with these items, as well. The web site for Sanctum Australia is www.sanctumaustralia.com. Complete lists of ingredients are available at www.luckyvitamin.com. The Moisture Concentrate rates a 1 on EWG, the Eye Balm a 2, the Repair Cream a 3 (contains limonene, the EWG considers it high risk—it is common in companies overseas, such as Sante, Logona, etc.). The products I have submitted before have ranged from 1-3 on EWG’s safety scale; however, I do not use everything in the line. I still prefer a mix of aloe vera, non-alcohol witch hazel, and rosewater for a toner, and I am currently using Olivella Fragrance Free Body and Face Soap as a cleanser. I mix sugar with the soap for exfoliation. As always, it is essential to research each and every product we choose to use, and there are few that are perfect for everyone. As a person with highly sensitive skin and multiple chemical sensitivities, however, I have been quite pleased and very impressed with these products. The cost range runs from $4.95 (a bar of their organic soap) to $35.95 (HyC Repair Serum), US Dollars, MSRP. Prices vary according to the retailer. Products should be used within 3-5 months for facial products and 2-4 months for body products, depending upon usage and storage conditions. A little goes a LONG way. Customer Service at Sanctum is excellent—I received an answer to a skin care question within 24 hours. Click here to read or post comments. |
